Nicely written! It’s a pretty convincing case you present, that so many of the characters are psychopathic. This makes me wonder about two things, though. One, I assume you’re using modern psychology’s definition of psychopathy. What is the history of this term, and how was it used and/or defined during the Grimms’ time? Two, why do you think the Grimms decided to write about characters with these traits? Of the peer reviews you posted, I think the first reviewer is looking for you to answer that question.

FWIW, when I looked at my old essays from Rabkin’s class, whenever I wrote about a pattern I saw, I also wrote about what I thought the author was trying to accomplish/say by establishing that pattern. :)

This raises so many questions. First, what happens next? You’re going to tell us, right?

Second, what if one of the Meiren are infertile (and therefore not able to produce the two offspring).

Third? Who are they fighting against, why do they need to become soldiers… This society almost reminds me a bit of a setting for one of the armies in Warhammer 40,000 (tabletop wargame). The space marines are culled from homeworlds, become genetically enhanced and are modified to interact with their suits/weapons, melded with the machines so to speak…

pinkbob wrote a wonderful story. I think I’ll share it with my daughter as an example of how well a young author can tell a story. This really gives me hope that young people are embracing writing and science fiction. Really, you did a fabulous job.

You did a great job, kiddo. I’m really proud of you for taking over and making this story your own. I hope this encourages you to write more fiction, because I think you could be really great at it. You’re off to a good start and even though this isn’t the story we had planned, it’s a very good story indeed. Nice work, my young nerdling.

That was a very fun first effort! I love the fact that you are taking to writing at such a young age. You’ve got a great eye for detail and need to remember that. You talked about the shop, and what Jake looked at, but what made the track so dangerous?

And more importantly, what’s next for Tilly?
